Types of Questions
Fill in the Blank: Allows you to enter one or more blanks per question and provide an answer for each. As you write text, use brackets around the portion you want students to fill in. Remind students to check their spelling as Gooru doesn't auto correct or spell check what students write. Example: The big bad [wolf] blew down the [house].
Multiple Choice: Create from 2 - 10 answer choices with 1 correct answer. Indicate which answer is correct by selecting the checkmark. To delete an answer option, click on the trash icon.
Multiple Answer: Create from 2 - 10 answer choices with 1 or more correct answers. Indicate which answer is correct by selecting the checkmark on the “Yes” column. Students must select either "Yes" or "No" for each answer choice. All answer choices must be labeled correctly for the question to be scored as correct. To delete an answer choice, click on the trash icon.
True/False: Provide a statement that can be labeled as “True” or “False”. Indicate which answer is correct by selecting the checkmark.
Drag and Drop Order: Up to 10 answers will be scrambled and students must drag and drop them back into the correct order. When you create the questions, place them in the correct order; the questions will be randomized for students. To delete an answer option, click on the trash icon.
Highlight Text: These questions allow students to highlight individual words or sentences within a text. Use brackets to indicate which words students should highlight. One bracket can only contain one word at a time. For example: The [big] bad wolf blew [down] the house.
If you want students to select a sentence from within a paragraph, please make sure that all sentences end with a period, and that the bracket includes the period at the end of the sentence. One bracket can only contain one sentence at a time. For example: The first little pig built his house of straw. [The big bad wolf blew down the house.] The second pig built his house of wood.
Multi-Select Image: Allow students to select which images are the right answer for the question. You can add up to 10 answer images and select 1 or more correct answers. You can load an image from the web or from a file on your computer. Indicate which answer is correct by selecting the checkmark. To delete an answer image, click on the trash icon.
Multi-Select Text: Multi-Select Text questions are similar to Multiple Answer questions but with an important difference: students only need to select the correct answer(s). You can add up to 10 answer choices and select 1 or more correct answers. Indicate which answer is correct by selecting the check mark. To delete an answer choice, click on the trash icon.
Free Response: Allow students to write their responses to a prompt. Teachers can use rubrics to grade free response questions in collections and assessments. Please refer to the Rubric article on how to add a rubric to a free response question.
